Quiet Flame
After developing a reputation in New York City for her fiery live shows, Laird recorded her first album, Quiet Flame, in 1994 and released it the same year. Blending covers of 30's and 40's jazz standards with her own compositions, Jackson drew attention to herself with the record and hit the European jazz scene for a short period while promoting it.
"Laird has a strong, rich voice and a flowing ease to her delivery, and these qualities blend wonderfully..." Bruce Crowther- Swing2Bop.com
"Laird Jackson's soulful vocal yoga, (she has the ability to hold notes effortlessly, and to stretch into uncompromising vocal positions)..." Kathryn Shackleton- BBC Jazz review
